A brand-new crime thriller is heading to TV as Anna Pigeon prepares to bring a dark, atmospheric mystery set deep inside America’s national parks.
Premiering Friday, August 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on USA Network, the series adapts the bestselling novels by Nevada Barr and blends wilderness survival with chilling crime investigations in isolated, dangerous environments.
A ranger with a haunted past
The story follows Anna Pigeon, played by Tracy Spiridakos (known for Chicago P.D.), a former city resident whose life is shattered by tragedy. Seeking escape and healing, she becomes a national park ranger — hoping the wilderness will offer peace.
But instead of escape, she finds herself constantly pulled into disturbing murder cases hidden in remote parklands.
Mystery meets the wilderness
As Anna tries to rebuild her life, each new assignment forces her to confront both external danger and her own unresolved trauma. The national parks she patrols become crime scenes, where isolation makes every discovery more intense and every suspect harder to track.
What starts as a search for healing slowly turns into a mission to stop killers operating in places where help is far away.
A growing trend of wilderness crime dramas
The series arrives in the wake of popular rural crime shows like Yellowstone and Joe Pickett, which have shown audiences the darker side of remote landscapes.
Anna Pigeon continues that trend, but adds a more investigative, character-driven angle focused on survival, trauma, and justice in the wild.
