11 players saw the same letters… but one tiny detail changed everything. What looked like one of the easiest word puzzles on The 1% Club suddenly turned into a ruthless trap as 11 contestants were eliminated after overlooking a clue hidden in plain sight. The shocking result stunned both the studio and viewers at home, proving once again that the show’s most dangerous questions are often the ones that appear the simplest.

THE 1% Club wiped out 11 players on a particularly tough letters question.

A large number of players had made it to the 70% question on the ITV programme – but it would prove to be too tricky for some.

Quiz question: Alternating letters of HIGHER and LOWER. Options: HLOIWGEHERR, HLIOGWHEERR, HLIOWGEHERR.
This was the question that had players stumped

Lee tasked them to answer it in 30 seconds

Lee Mack was on top form on the ITV favourite in which he is tasked with finding who is the brainiest of his 100 audience members.

Every week, fans see the players whittled down as they fail to advance past the increasingly difficult questions.

This time around was no different, as 11 people failed to correctly work out the 70% puzzle.

Reading the question to the audience, Lee asked: “If you write the words HIGHER and LOWER with alternating letters, what do you get?”

Three possible options with jumbled-up letters were then presented to the participants.

These were: A) HLOIWGEHERR B) HLIOGWEERR or C) HLIOWGEHERR

The contestants were then given 30 seconds to could work out which one of the three answers was correct.

During the time, Lee joked: ” I think that first one is the name of Hagrid’s German cousin.”

A total of 11 players failed to identify the right combination.

Lee finally confirmed that the answer was in fact B – HLIOGWEERR.

This is because it took the first letter of higher followed by the first letter of lower and then continued this pattern with the second letter of each word and so on and so forth.

It is just one of many questions that have managed to stump players in recent times with a tough picture question on Coronation Street also leaving players baffled.

Lee asked: “What is the difference between these two images?”

The players were then shown two images of the Corrie pub – but with one major difference.

Lee then went on to reveal that the name on the pub had changed.

He said: “The image on the right shows Ravers instead of Rovers.”

Quiz question: Alternating letters of HIGHER and LOWER. Correct answer: HIGHER LOWER.
The right answer was then revealed
