Meghan Markle was torn to shreds after it was revealed her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. The Duchess of Sussex, 44, announced the news last week, writing on her Instagram: “A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on ‘With Love, Meghan’ on Netflix. We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!”

News Corp columnist Angela Mollard admitted she was “massively surprised” by the announcement because “Meghan’s content is banal”. Speaking to Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power, she said: “I’ve got to the bottom of this. The Daytime Emmys don’t get a lot of attention. If you nominate Meghan, you get your name out there.

“Whether or not she deserves it, whether it’s a legitimately brilliant series, I don’t think so. I think the Daytime Emmys just need some attention and guess what, we’re talking about them!”

She claimed Meghan’s previous projects are not “highly credentialed” because of their failures, citing her unsuccessful podcast as well as the Sussexes’ Spotify and Netflix deals.

Angela added: “Things haven’t worked out. I watched With Love, Meghan – there was nothing special about that. I’m very surprised. Surely the Americans can find something better to award a trophy to?”

With Love, Meghan premiered on Netflix in March 2025, followed by a second series followed five months later in August. However, the series received dismal ratings, with Netflix revealing it was the 1,224th most-watched programme on the site between July and December 2025.

It was announced the show would not be returning, and Netflix severed ties with Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, earlier this year.

Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria insisted the company maintains a relationship with the Sussexes, stating: “We still have a relationship with them. We have movies in development with them.”

At the time, a spokesperson for Meghan said: “As ever is grateful for Netflix’s partnership through launch and our first year.

“We have experienced meaningful and rapid growth, and As ever is now ready to stand on its own. We have an exciting year ahead and can’t wait to share more.”
