By the end of the episode, only two quizzers, Zoe and Ryan, remained for the final 1% question.

Zoe bit her lip with nerves as she was dealt the all-important final question, which only 1 in 100 members of the viewing public could supposedly get right.

Shown a string of five different clocks, the pair were asked: “What word is represented by the times on the clocks below?”

One was an alarm clock set to 12, the second was a digital clock at 1am, an old-timey mantlepiece clock read for 2 o’clock, a wall clock read for 5 o’clock, before the final digital alarm clock read 12.

The 1% Club’s super-hard question that wiped out 21 players… can you get it?

Racing against the timer before it ran out, the two quizzers were left scratching their head as they put in their guesses.

Could you have got it?

The answer is below.

After the timer ran out, it was revealed that Ryan was not able to guess in time, and therefore was out of the game for not providing an answer.

Zoe, on the other hand, had figured it out: The answer was LABEL.

The times on the clock corresponded to the letters of the alphabet to spell the word out.

So 12am translated to L, the 12th letter in the alphabet, with 1am standing for A.

2am was subsequently B and 5pm worked out as E, the fifth letter in the alphabet – which put together spelt LABEL.

Zoe’s quick logic meant she walked away with the entire remaining prize pot of £97,000.

Another £3,000 taken from another contestant who decided to opt out early rather than risk going home empty handed.

The 1% Club airs Saturdays at 8.25pm on ITV1.
