What is His & Hers about?

The American mystery thriller stars Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal, Pablo Schreiber, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Sunita Mani.

Based on British author Alice Feeney’s 2020 novel of the same name, the six-episode series arrived on Netflix in January 2026.

The story centres on Anna, a former news anchor who has withdrawn from her career and personal life and now lives in isolation.

Her quiet existence is disrupted when she hears about a murder in Dahlonega, the small Georgia town where she grew up.

Her journalistic instincts quickly return, and Anna becomes determined to investigate what happened.

But her personal connection to the town makes the case far more complicated than it first appears. As she digs into the murder, she begins to suspect that years of silence and buried memories may be hiding the truth.

Her investigation also brings her into conflict with Detective Jack Harper, her estranged husband, who has been assigned to the same case and becomes increasingly suspicious of Anna’s involvement.

‘There are two sides to every story’

Netflix’s official synopsis sets up the central mystery by highlighting the conflicting perspectives at the heart of the series.

“Set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, Anna lives in haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a news anchor,” the synopsis says.

“But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – Anna is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers.”

It adds: “Detective Jack Harper is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story: HIS & HERS, which means someone is always lying.”

That uncertainty has proved to be one of the show’s biggest attractions for viewers, with fans praising the way the story repeatedly challenges their assumptions.

Viewers call it ‘addictive’

Reviews on IMDb have been particularly enthusiastic, with viewers praising both the performances and the increasingly complicated storyline.

One viewer wrote: “Wow! I am so glad I watched this series. I enjoyed it so much from the first episode that I binge watched it.”

They singled out Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson for praise, describing the acting as “superb” and calling the storyline “absolutely brilliant.”

Another viewer highlighted the show’s short episode count, saying it was the perfect length for a binge-watch.

“Absolutely loved this series, it was addictive. Beauty at six episodes,” they wrote. “Binged it, three episodes before work and three after. Main leads are great.”

‘Best plot twists I’ve ever seen’

For some viewers, however, it was the twists that made His & Hers impossible to stop watching.

One fan said the story kept them guessing while making them feel as though they were solving the mystery alongside the characters.

“Best plot twists I’ve ever seen,” they wrote, adding that the story “keeps your attention” and allows viewers to feel the emotions of the characters.

The viewer revealed they watched the entire series in one sitting because they couldn’t go to bed without finding out how it ended.

They concluded with a simple verdict: “10/10!”

With just six episodes, His & Hers has proved an easy choice for viewers looking for a mystery they can race through in a single weekend—or, as some fans have discovered, in one very late night.

All six episodes of His & Hers are available to stream on Netflix.
