Netflix viewers are hitting out after learning another season of a controversial drama was in the making. The streaming platform confirmed a fourth season of Beauty in Black was in the works, despite expectations that the programme would end after Season 3.
The Tyler Perry drama, which follows a stripper and a thriving businesswoman whose lives become interlinked, was widely covered in the press in December after it was reported that the upcoming third outing would be the last. Proving to have secured a large following, the eagerly awaited Season 2 dominated the Netflix Top 10 for weeks.
Perry said in a statement that the story was “far from finished” and there was “so much more I wanted to explore”, while thanking dedicated fans for their continued support. However, plenty of other fans took to X to say the U-turn was a bad move.

One viewer commented, “We had a good show. Can you please let it rest?” While another added: “Can you all wrap this s*** up. Not even funny anymore.” (sic)
Another remarked: “Wrap it up already!” While a fourth posted: “My god, why? Y’all need to stop with this bs.” (sic)
Over on IMDb reviews, the show was criticised for its “misogynistic” themes, with another viewer saying: “If I could rate it with zero, I would, given how bad the series is. Terrible acting, poor dialogue, everything done in a completely amateurish way.”
However, there were plenty of fans who were thrilled to hear the show would be returning, with one saying: “This needs to be released as soon as possible.”

Season 3, which has yet to receive a release date, will see Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) forced to form a challenging alliance with Mallory (Crystle Stewart) following a deadly family feud.
Netflix teased: “Together, they navigate a ruthless world of blackmail, revenge, and buried secrets as the family wages war against one of its own, threatening to bring the entire empire crashing down.”
