JOEL Dommett has broken his silence on quitting Unpacked – and revealed why he left the I’m A Celeb spin-off show.

ITV confirmed the return of the companion show on Thursday, with Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers heading back to Australia to host it.

But Joel’s name was noticeably absent and soon after the news was announced, he took to Instagram to explain his decision.

Joel, who was runner-up to Scarlett Moffatt on the 16th series of I’m A Celebrity in 2016, shared a series of pictures from his time in the jungle and co-hosting the variously titled spin-off shows afterwards.

The 41-year-old captioned the snaps: “Was so darn fun @imacelebrity.”

The first picture was with I’m a Celeb hosts Ant and Dec on set in Australia, and Joel wrote across it: “It’s time to say goodbye to my time hosting the I’m A Celeb extra show.”

The next snap then revealed his tattoo tributes to Ant and Dec, with their names on each of his ankles.

He joked: “Not just because of the restraining order.”

Joel continued across the slide show alongside his various co-hosts including Scarlett, Emily Atack, Adam Thomas and Joe Swash: “It’s been 10 years since I went in there as a campmate…and I was super lucky to go back again…and again. And again.”

He then shared snaps of his wife Hannah with son Wilde on the set, and another of her pregnant with their baby boy, Dutch.

Joel said: “But this year I’m gonna stay at home with these dudes, and the extra one that kinda came with us too.”

He signed off with a pic of Wilde watching him on the TV presenting the show: “It’s been made seeing my life evolve in Australia from this…to this. I’ve bloomin loved it. G’DAYYYY MATE.”

Joel immediately received messages from his co-stars past and present, with Sam writing: “Never has there been a better man to learn from. I feel incredibly honoured to have been able to share a tiny bit of that period with you.”

Scarlett, who hosted I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp with Joel for two series, added: “Best of the best Joel, you make presenting look easy.

“So grateful to have been in there with you and then again for extra camp. Keep smashing life as a daddy, husband, presenter and comedian xxx.”
