Netflix may have another Nordic crime obsession on its hands. The five-part Swedish thriller Blood Sacrifice is drawing enthusiastic reactions from viewers, with some admitting they raced through the entire series in a single night.
Set during the bright Stockholm summer, the drama begins when two police officers respond to a mysterious home-invasion call at an apparently empty house. By the following day, both officers are dead — and their deaths appear to be only the beginning of a disturbing series of attacks targeting police.
Detective Thomas Berg, played by Jakob Oftebro, takes the case, but solving it forces him into an uncomfortable reunion with his estranged father Alfred, a retired detective played by Peter Andersson. Years of resentment must be pushed aside as the pair try to understand who is behind the killings before another officer becomes a target.

One viewer described it as an “excellent” one-night binge, while another called the series “incredible.” Another fan praised European limited crime thrillers before revealing they had binge-watched all five episodes and thought the Swedish drama was “SO good.”
Even viewers only one episode in have been recommending it, with one describing the opening as “really involving” and praising its lead detective.
The series has also earned an 86% Rotten Tomatoes score, adding to the early buzz surrounding Netflix’s latest Scandinavian crime drama.

What separates the story from a straightforward hunt for a killer is the fractured relationship at its center.
Thomas has dedicated his life to policing, but the investigation forces him to confront his own past when he needs Alfred’s expertise.
