Legendary actor and director Robert Duvall has died at the age of 95. The star of films like “The Godfather,” “Apocalypse Now,” and “M*A*S*H” passed away at his home, according to a statement by his wife Luciana.

“Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort,” Luciana Duvall wrote.

“To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court.”

The family is asking for privacy at this time.

Robert Duvall’s career spanned more than 70 years, starting in 1952 when he began working in the theater. His big critical break came in the 1970s when he portrayed Tom Hagen in “The Godfather” film franchise.

In 1983, Duvall won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in “Tender Mercies.”

Duvall was married four times and did not have any children. He is survived by his wife Luciana.
