Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones Reveal Why They Missed Today — Their First Girls Getaway Was Filled With Emotional Moments
Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones stepped away from their usual Today show duties for a special reason: bringing women together for a weekend of connection, relaxation and heartfelt conversations. Their first-ever Girls Getaway proved to be more than a fun retreat, with both hosts sharing emotional reflections about the experience and the friendship they celebrated onstage.
The NBC personalities have been absent from the morning show since Thursday, October 22, with prerecorded episodes of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle airing in their place. Their time away began on Wednesday, October 21, when the inaugural Girls Getaway launched at Cedar Lakes Estate in Port Jervis, New Jersey.

Organized around the idea of helping women connect, recharge and enjoy time together, the two-day gathering featured conversations with celebrity guests, sound baths, yoga, a Shop Today Brand Bazaar and other group activities.

Bush Hager offered a glimpse of the event on Instagram on Thursday, sharing a carousel of photographs featuring the women who attended. The pictures included moments from conversations with actress Courteney Cox and Talia Parkinson-Jones, executive producer of Jenna & Sheinelle.
“A night away with my girls @sheinelle_o and @taliaparkinson and so many lovely women! Thank all of you for coming to camp @jennasheinelle,” Bush Hager wrote.
Jones responded in the comments, describing the gathering as “such a magical 48 hours!”
She also shared her own collection of photographs, explaining that the first day had already become an experience she expected to cherish for years.

“Every once in a while, I experience something that I KNOW I will cherish for a lifetime,” Jones wrote. Reflecting on the first day of the getaway, she admitted that although the event sold out quickly, she had not anticipated just how meaningful it would feel.
Women had traveled from across the country to take part in the festivities, which included fireside chats, Soul Train lines, sound baths and yoga.
“It was so darn special,” she added.
Jones also described the gathering as a powerful reminder of the connection the hosts have built with their audience.
“It was such a hug to my heart to see the impact that we have each day,” she wrote, thanking attendees and apologizing to anyone she had not managed to meet personally.
“Until next time!” she concluded.
Parkinson-Jones also celebrated the event in the comments, writing, “We are just getting started! It was such a gift to be with our community of women.”

Beyond the activities and celebrations, one moment shared on the official Jenna & Sheinelle Instagram account stood out for its emotional honesty.
In a clip from a panel discussion, Bush Hager became visibly emotional as she praised her co-host, describing a strength that viewers may not fully appreciate.
“Y’all see Sheinelle every single day. It’s strength personified. And what you see is half of it,” Bush Hager said, before becoming tearful.
She continued, “What y’all see is, like, a tenth of it, and not because she’s keeping it, because it’s too much to bear, honestly.”
Bush Hager went on to admire Jones’ resilience, grace and compassion, acknowledging the demands of raising three children while navigating life’s challenges.
“It is such proof that her strength and her grace and her heart — it’s not easy, man. She’s raising three kids,” she said.
Jones previously took several months away from Today following the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh, in May 2025.
Sheinelle Jones Returns the Compliment
Jones was equally generous when it was her turn to speak about Bush Hager, praising her co-host’s confidence, quick wit and emotional openness.
“You’re like a bada**,” Jones said, before explaining that Bush Hager’s personality is driven by a deep sense of passion and empathy.
She described her colleague as someone who wears her heart on her sleeve, allowing her emotions to surface readily because she approaches life without putting up a protective front.
“But don’t get it twisted,” Jones added, emphasizing that Bush Hager’s vulnerability comes alongside a sharp sense of humor and quick thinking.
The exchange offered viewers a glimpse of the mutual respect behind their on-screen partnership. While the Girls Getaway gave attendees an opportunity to unwind and connect, it also gave the two hosts a chance to express how much they value one another.
With both women sharing their gratitude and the emotional highlights of the event, their first Girls Getaway appears to have left a lasting impression on its hosts as well as the women who attended.
Today With Jenna & Sheinelle airs weekdays at 10 a.m. on NBC.
