With the end of Stranger Things after a long and successful run of 10 years and 5 seasons, it seems like the streaming giant Netflix isn’t really done with it just yet. Thus, it has released a behind-the-scenes documentary, titled One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5.

However, instead of hyping the fans even more about the series, it seems that this film has managed to make die-hard and casual fans even more heated with the Duffer Brothers’ creative dialogue, considering the finale’s reception.

With the end of Stranger Things after a decade, the finale is what most people found to be one of, if not the lowest point, in the series. And when the streaming giant went ahead and released this documentary, it really set people off in a big way, especially dedicated long-time fans of the IP.

And when it comes to the online fandom, after one scene in the documentary film saw Matt and Ross Duffer discussing Eleven’s death and how to go about it in the last episode, fans have started piling on them even more on X.

While Netflix thought this would be a nice cherry on top of the cake moment in the Stranger Things finale, it only managed to add to the upset that the majority of fans felt after the series ended on a low note.

Stranger Things Couldn’t Escape the Underwhelming Finale Curse

This isn’t the first time that an epic series has let its fans down in terms of a proper ending, as the last season of Game of Thrones became a touchstone for this after the finale aired, and people hated what it had to offer.

But at the same time, one of the biggest reasons why the hit Netflix series’ finale was underwhelming is the sheer hype that had been created around it, with the ending not living up to that hype in the eyes of the fandom. At the same time, the entire series didn’t deliver the emotional and narrative closure that people were looking forward to, something that was present in Season 4.

Lastly, the narrative in the final stretch had numerous plot holes that the Duffer Brothers couldn’t rectify in time, resulting in the dissatisfaction that people felt with it. And with so much riding on it, the pressure to make it a grand spectacle detracted from the deep and enriching storytelling the show was known for, making the finale feel underwhelming.
