Must-Watch Netflix Serial Killer Whodunnit With a Brilliant but Tormented Detective Gets a Major Update and the Darkness Just Deepened

Upcoming Netflix serial killer drama Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole has been given a big update. The adaptation — which will see Point Break‘s Tobias Santelmann take on the role of detective Harry Hole, made famous in Nesbø’s book series — has now confirmed Nick Cave and Warren Ellis as composers on the show. The two have previously worked on the scores for The Proposition and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

“We loved working on this adaptation — Harry Hole’s murky, morally-complex world has been brought to life in all its darkly brutal glory, and it was an honour to work with the legendary Jo Nesbø,” Cave said.

Nesbø added: “Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are masters at conjuring mood and tension, and their music is the ideal companion to Harry Hole’s brooding, enigmatic journey through the shadows of Oslo.

“Their music has always been a soundtrack to my writing process. To have them now scoring the world of Harry Hole feels both surreal and absolutely right.”

Detective Hole is described as “a nuanced character drama about two police officers – and supposed colleagues – operating on opposite sides of the law”.

“Throughout the season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler,” the synopsis adds.

“Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.”

Also on-board are Fridtjov Såheim, Eili Harboe, Atle Antonsen, Manish Sharma, Jesper Christensen and Kristoffer Joner.

Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole will land on Netflix on 26 March.
